REVIEW and Installation: VENTED Windshield for CFMoto Uforce U600 U800

WHY a VENTED Windshield is BEST!

I purchased my CFMoto U600 from a dealer that had already installed the options I needed, including the front windshield, rear window, and the half doors. All of these parts were options branded by CFMoto.

Now, after hundreds of miles of mixed riding on trails and rural roads, I have swapped the stock SOLID windshield for a VENTED version.

Why? After every ride on my local rural, gravel roads the entire cab of the UTV is covered in thick dust - over and under the dash, seats, and anything in the cab. This includes every inch of myself, too!

The Flat, Square CFMoto Uforce600

The combination of the half doors and solid front windshield and rear window creates a vacuum rolling down the dusty roads. The flat, blocky UTV actually sucks dust into the cab. Not only is this a mess to clean but it is highly aggravating and unhealthy.

The vented windshield that I installed SHOULD create positive pressure, expelling the dust from the cab.

Installation was fast and easy. The kit includes a thick rubber seal that must be installed. I started at the center of the windshield, along the top edge. Slowly work your way around the plastic, fully seating the locking metal edge along the outer circumference. There is an excess of weatherstripping, and you will need to cut off the unneeded material with a tin snips - a scissors won't cut the inner metal core. Don't worry of there is a small gap - I covered the gap with a 4-inch piece of black duct tape.

Set the windshield in place above the plastic rain gutter on the lower edge of the dash. It seemed a little low, so I spaced it up with a few short scraps of 3/4" wood.

Next, it's time to install the clamps. These ingenious clamps have a rectangular base that fits into matching slots in the plastic. You need to loosely wrap the Velcro strap around the posts, feed it through the slot in the plastic, then under the bar on the clamp.

Now push the clamp and strap through the hole in the plastic until seated fully. Then you can pull the strap tightly, securing the Velcro. Repeat for all four straps and clamps.

There is no way for the straps to slide on the plastic. Over time, the entire windshield might settle a little - If you had spaced it up. It's also possible that the straps might stretch, especially in the hot sun.

As shown, you will also notice that the retaining bolts are very loose. Using an Allen wrench on the outside and a 10mm wrench inside, I tightened each bolt until just barely snug. Then backed off about 1/4 turn. There is just enough gap to slide the vent back and forth without the bolts and washers rattling.

That's it! The first time I took the Uforce600 for a ride I knew this was going to be a HUGE upgrade!

I closed the vent in front of the driver about half way - there was plenty of air! I left the passenger side open - but I was alone, and your passenger may want less air movement.

I made a 20-mile loop on my local gravel roads with virtually NO dust in my face, on the dash, seats, or the speedometer or my GPS.

SUCCESS! Paired with the stock fixed rear window and the CFMoto brand half doors, I now can control the air movement through the cab.

Now this option probably isn't necessary if you are slow rolling through trails, especially in the mud. But for my style of "overlanding", this vented windshield is a HUGE UPGRADE! A vented windshiled also overcomes the constant complaint of engine heat in the cab of every UTV!
